About this deal

Line a tin with baking paper and allow it to hang over the sides - this will allow you to pull the buns out easily after baking. Near the end of the book Silky, Moon-Face and Saucepan are nowhere to be found and the children are informed of this by another inhabitant of the Faraway Tree — Mr Watzisname who visits them and even stays the night at their home.

Dick and the girls go up the tree again to join Jo, Moon-Face, Saucepan and Silky and then things go from bad to worse. The main characters are Jo, Bessie and Fanny (updated in recent revisions to Joe, Beth and Frannie), who are three siblings. I generally kind of tweak the recipe each time I make it by adding different things so the recipe below will be similar but not identical to theirs. Place the bowl onto your stand mixer with the dough hook and add two more cups of flour - gradually add another 1/2 cup of flour at a time fo your dough is super sticky. There is also a visit to The Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe and you can imagine how uncomfortable that could turn out to be, and — "Is it a bird? The children got a real surprise when they bit their currants, and Moon-Face almost fell off the branch with laughing. It can be a bit tricky but it really doesn’t matter if they’re neat, the idea is to just get as much sherbet inside as possible. One foray is reminiscent of an adventure that Molly, Peter and Chinky experienced ( Wishing Chair tales) when they visited The Land of Dreams. Dame Washalot, who spends her time washing her clothes and throwing the dirty wash-water down the tree.

There are so many interesting takes on the magical foods that the children feast on when exploring the tree but I’ve yet to see an (what I think is) accurate portrayal of Google Buns. The first title of the main trilogy, The Enchanted Wood, was published in 1939, although the Faraway Tree and Moon-Face had already made a brief appearance in 1936 in The Yellow Fairy Book. I found I had to manually work the sultanas through at this stage to ensure they would be properly distributed. They are extremely fortunate because they live near an enchanted wood in which there is a gigantic tree. The supporting character Dame Slap has also become Dame Snap, and no longer practises corporal punishment but instead reprimands her students by shouting at them.Unlike the first three books in the series, this work is not a novel, but a series of illustrations with short text underneath. Roll each piece into a ball and place them together in the pan, they should be somewhat tight and touching. At the very top of the tree they discover a ladder which leads them to a magical land which is different on each visit, because each place moves on from the top of the tree to make way for a new land.

They go to the wood to meet Jo, Bessie and Fanny and meet some of the wood's residents, including Silky and Moon Face. Now the scene is set for the children to do what the Faraway Tree books are all about — visiting one land after another and experiencing adventures. He is the owner of the slippery-slip, a slide which starts in the middle of his house which lets you slide down to the bottom of the Faraway Tree instead of climbing down. The stories take place in an enchanted wood in which a gigantic magical tree grows – the eponymous 'Faraway Tree'. Dick (later Rick), the cousin of Jo, Bessie and Fanny, comes to stay and he joins the secret adventures in the lands of the Faraway Tree.and now they are all in a terrible fix and Enid Blyton will tell us how they manage to get out of it in one piece.
