About this deal

Bought this for three particular tracks - namely 'Road, River and Rail', the title track and 'Fifty fifty Clown'.

Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. Talking of Frou Frou, I was listening to a Frou Frou album ( Details ) the other day and noticed how much it owed, not only to Bjork, but also to the Cocteau's. I only "discovered" the Cocteau Twins a couple of weeks ago, thanks to Steve Lamacq on 6 Music when he played the whole albumn on one of his shows and I knew then and there, that I had to have this album! is simply fantastic: on "Cherry-Coloured Funk", Guthrie's inimitable guitar work chimes leading a low-key but forceful rhythm, while Raymonde's grand bass work fleshes it out.An alternate version of “Pitch the baby” was recorded and released on the Mute Records/4AD compilation “Red Tape. The reissue only scratches the surface of the sound involved in this pressing- the reissue lacks any of the passion and depth of this lp; it just sits there where this pressing surrounds you with their sound.

When this album was originally released Elizabeth Fraser was just the singer of a band with a cult following. Then regretted after a year or so and got a different pressing (probably UK) but it wasn’t the same. Heaven or Las Vegas followed in 1990 and is recognised as their most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. Breaks my heart too - the Cocteau Twins are my favorite band, but holy s*** - the compression and brickwalling on Iceblink Luck is unforgivable, the entire LP sounds muffled compared to the digital version, and I'm convinced there are stereo balancing issues occurring with the mix in the first track, 'Cherry-coloured Funk'.I have to confess this is the only Cocteau Twins album i have in my vast labyrinth of sounds and in my humble opinion it is my fave album of any moment.

A promotional-only single of “Heaven or Las Vegas” was released, which featured an edit of the song (the version featured in the video), backed with “Dials. Related Artists - Drowning Craze, Elizabeth Fraser, Faye Wong, John Grant, Lost Horizons, Lowlife, Mandalay, Robin Guthrie, Simon Raymonde, Sun's Signature, The Czars, Violet Indiana. Elizabeth Frazer pioneered the glossolalia technique to create a vast layered sonic template around the sounds of words where the words themselves seem to almost morph into each other, thus inventing her own language. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering Cocteau Twins, the "Heaven or Las Vegas" vinyl is a must-have for any vinyl collection. Raymonde and Guthrie would complete fully produced instrumentals, with the beats coming from Akai MPC 60 MK1 and EMU SP1200 drum machines, Fraser arriving later to add her enigmatic contributions.Iceblink luck in particular has literally no dynamics whatsoever; the drums are barely audible and the loudness levels even fluctuate during the song. After dreaming off, we wake up to 'Iceblink Luck', with that lovely bell-like guitar and melodious bass and glorious chorus. but in the meantime, I shall wear my headphones and just be carried along in a swirling marvellous mass of magical music. Literally sounds like someone ran the entire album through a maxed-out limiter and boosted the bass to appease newer fans who prefer heavy bass over clear mixes. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. I've been a CT fan since the early 80's and have been so looking forward to their back-catalouge being re-mastered and re-released.Road, River and Rail' is a seriously down-beat track, almost sounding Joni Mitchell-ish, circa Hejira and then, finally, `Frou Frou Foxes in Midsummer Fires', a gentle, laid-back start, reminiscent of older Cocteau, blossoming into a fairly conventional (for the Cocteau's) song, finally fading away. Released in 1990, Heaven or Las Vegas was the band's most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts.
