About this deal

It is based on a decades-old myth about a phantom woman, said to hitch a lift from passing drivers – near what was the Upper Bell Inn – and then disappear. The Cortina was occupied by four women; a 22-year-old woman due to marry in Gillingham the following day and her three hen-party companions.

Joseph Chester and Tracy Boon both reported seeing a young woman wearing a nightgown on separate occasions in 1968 and 1999. It is said that the ghosts of three women who were killed in a car accident on this road, one of whom was due to get married, still haunt it. Just as the Devil reached out for the daughter, there was an almighty scream and the Devil’s bent arm turned to stone – which he ripped off and threw it onto the moor and formed the bend in the road.Local filmmakers have taken it upon themselves to dramatise the story of the Bluebell ghost, complete with dodgy 60s dancing and estuary English. This haunting can be attributed to the dreadful accident that befell three young women, Susan Browne, Judith Lingham and Patricia Fergeuson, on the night of 19 November 1965. In recent years, however, it has attracted national publicity as more and more people began to report inexplicable supernatural events. Ghosts have often been spotted on the road but hadn't been for quite some time - more than 20 years ago in fact.

All three crew – the pilot, Graham Budden, and two paramedics, Tony Richardson and Mark Darby – were killed on impact. He and his brother Francesco owned the Inn for a time as well, and after falling in love with the same woman, decided to settle matters with a duel. When he came back with the police there was no sign of the seriously hurt woman and again nothing to suggest what had happened to her if she had been there in the first place. He stopped his car and rushed to the roadside to find the girl lying in the middle of the road with a gash in her forehead and cuts on her knees. Halloween is just around the corner and what could be more spine-chilling than taking a drive down one of the UK’s most haunted roads?

With a road number of 666 - the Number of the Beast - it’s not surprising this Bolton A-road has a sinister reputation. The case that brought the ghost of Blue Bell Hill to national prominence occurred in July 1974 when a driver reported to the police that he had hit a girl who appeared in front of his car. You never know, you may just be one of those drivers who encounters the chilling spectre, who over the years, has become known as the Ghost of Blue Bell Hill. From spirit brides who hitch a lift and ghostly children who disappear, even the busiest roads have their fair share of mysterious sightings.Jemma, an animal-rescue worker, was driving with two friends in Halsham, East Yorks, when she spotted it. Over the years further incidents were reported and somewhere along the line the ghostly apparitions were linked to one of three women who were killed on the A229 in a car crash in November 1965. These events show an affinity with the legendary Phantom Hitch-Hiker, suggesting that far from being mere vestiges of a superstitious folk tradition, they may reflect a genuine but complex phenomenon that continues to manifest in modern times and settings, and challenges our very notions of reality. The crime was a hanging offence and a few steps from the pub there was once a tree where highwaymen were hanged when convicted.

The body was identified from dental records as that of 21-year-old Christopher Brian Chandler, who was wanted for robbery and had been on the run from the Metropolitan Police since July 16 that year. RTG: This software developer started its operations in 1996 and has more than 400 games in its library. I never believed in such nonsense until I see one in my old house of a woman in my bedroom I legged it downstairs and couldn’t get the words out to tell my husband it is something I will never forget in my lifetime and that’s the truth . Terrified they have hit her, drivers claim to have got out to investigate, only to find no trace of a body. If you’re looking for a creepy road to drive on this Halloween, Blue Bell Hill is definitely worth a visit.

Buckinghamshire has its fair share of ghosts, but none send shivers up your spine like a derelict haunted hospital like the Canadian Red Cross. A series of strange sightings have been reported by motorists between junction 16 and 19 of the M6, in Cheshire - including phantom lorries going the wrong way and a troubled woman constantly hitchhiking by the side of the road. And Blue Bell Hill in Kent is known as one of the most haunted places in Britain, with reports of cars being pushed off the road by demonic forces.
